For the second time this year, Strava is the home to a Guinness World Record
SAN FRANCISCO, October 5, 2023 – Strava, the subscription platform at the center of connected fitness, announced that a pair of Strava athletes have officially broken the Guinness World Record for the longest GPS drawing on a bike and completed by a team. Utilizing the platform’s web route builder tool, Frédéric and Mathilde de Lanouvelle, a father-daughter pair, rode close to 1,350 miles to create a heart image called “A heart this big!”.
Following the route across France, it took them 117 hours, 25 minutes and 34 seconds of moving time to complete. The pair also used the long distance ride to raise awareness and funds for Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque Enfants du Monde, a French organization focused on helping children with heart defects from disadvantaged countries.
The previous record holder, from earlier this year, was a team of four French riders who rode about 636 miles to create the Velociraptor, also planned and recorded their record-breaking route on the platform.
Both record-breaking teams created their route images using Strava’s web route builder tool and GPS mapping technology. Strava Art is created by tracing a GPS line on a map and has become popular amongst Strava’s active community of over 100 million. To see more Strava Art, visit www.stories.strava.com.
