Strava Launches Redesigned Record Experience

SAN FRANCISCO – July 16, 2025 – Strava, the app for active people, today unveiled a redesigned Record experience that makes activity tracking more intuitive and athlete-friendly. The new interface streamlines sport selection and navigation to help users record activities and track progress all in one place on their mobile device.

This update follows data released by Strava in their recent 2024 Year in Sport Trend Report about the use of the Strava mobile app. Despite the popularity of devices and wearables, it revealed that nearly three out of four athletes hit Record in the app to log their activities.

The reimagined Record feature is designed to provide users with a more dynamic and interactive experience within the Strava mobile app. Beginning today on Android and later this Summer on iOS, it will also enable users to follow their activity on an intuitive, easy-to-follow map, with activity stats that update in real-time as they move.

Key features of this update include:

  • Enhanced Navigation: The updated Record experience is now powered by the recently updated Map Rendering Engine (MRE). This new MRE brings an enhanced level of detail to Strava’s map and routing experience.

  • Segments: It’s now easier than ever to find, follow, and compete on Segments. Subscribers can chase best efforts on Live Segments and see their progress in real-time.

  • Map + Stats, Together: No more switching between screens during your workout. Users can now easily view stats and their map simultaneously while in motion.

  • Real-time Splits: Splits help users understand the time it takes to complete a specific distance during their workout. Now, users can see their workout Splits update in real-time as they move to help facilitate smarter training.

  • Live Laps: Soon, Laps will be added to the Record feature. This will allow users to track and analyze activities by marking laps at specific distances or intervals during a workout.

Subscribers can get even more out of the Record experience by unlocking map layers, like Winter Map styles, 3D Terrain, and Heatmaps. This update is available beginning today for users on Android, and on iOS in the coming weeks.
